While we do not have retail links and the time of writing, we know the Gigabyte Aorus H370 motherboard will launch today with an MSRP of £118.99 inc VAT. Of course, most retailers like to be a little more competitive, so expect to see prices either side of that figure. Pretty much every major retailer is expected to have stock any time now, so be sure to shop around.
The Z370 platform has been an interesting one, it’s near identical to what was on offer with Z270. Of course, the improvement in CPU support, and some occasional tweaks to add more M.2 storage are not to be sniffed at. H370 is, therefore, the almost direct replacement of H270, albeit with the revised socket to add 8th Gen Intel processors. Launching around the same price as the last gen, it obviously makes sense to invest in the new H370 platform now, and it’s pretty affordable overall.
I was expecting “cheap motherboard, lower performance” to be true. Of course, that’s usually a pretty solid metric to work from. However, despite costing as much as half as some of the Z370 motherboards we’ve tested, it certainly wasn’t half the performance. When it came to gaming performance benchmarks, the Gaming 3 exceeded my expectations with style. Let’s not forget that delightfully low power consumption too!
There are a few signs of a “cheaper” motherboard here, but not many. If it wasn’t for the brown PCB, it would easily look as good as more premium solutions. Big heatsinks, armored DIMM slots and PCIe slots, quality audio hardware, M.2 cooling, it’s all here. Heck, there’s even some nice RGB lighting thrown in for good measure.
I can’t fault this motherboard, I really can’t. The only things that appear to be missing are overclocking and an optical socket for audio. It’s all here, it delivers awesome performance for non-overclocked CPUs, and it won’t break the bank. If you’re looking for an affordable gaming or mining motherboard, this is a real winner.
