Gigabyte And BioStar Bay Trail-D Boards Now Available

The first Bay Trail-D boards are starting to appear on the market and while there stilll aren’t any quad-core models available, the new J1800 offerings from Gigabyte and BioStar are showing a lot of promise.
The Gigabyte J1800N-D2H (pictured above) features the J1800 processor with a clock speed of 2.42GHz, two DDR3L SO-DIMM slots, a PCI Express 1x slot, Mini PCI Express 1x slot, SATA 3Gbps and a single USB 3.0 port.
The Biostar J1800NH is basically the same, but with one SO-DIMM slot, one PCI Express 1x slot, SATA 3Gbps and USB 3.0.
Both boards come equipped with the usual stuff, so you’ll find gigabit Ethernet, HDMI, VGA, four USB 2.0 and even the old school PS/2 connections for mouse and keyboard. The major bonus for both boards, beside their compact low power design is that they’re both passively cooled thanks to a built in heatsink on the top of the CPU, which also helps them maintain a super low profile.
No official word on pricing at the moment, but given that MSI launched a similar spec board last week for around 69 Euro, we expect these two boards will cost somewhere between 60-70 Euro each.
