Computex 2024:
Gigabyte and their more premium high-end hardware range from Aorus always put on a good show at Computex, and 2024 is no exception, with an impressive range of new motherboards coming to market this year.
First up is the B650E AORUS Stealth ICE, which they say is the worlds first reversed-connector motherboard, commonly known as BTF motherboards, to be available in a white finish.
It’s a B-series board, but it’s obviously still one of their more premium AORUS solutions, and it does look absolutely stunning with all that white and silver armour on it.
Obviously, all the connectors are rear mounted, and there’s even a pretty hefty rear backplate, and I’m really looking forward to getting hands on with this one in the not too distant future.
Fancy something, well… FANCY? Then check out the new XTREME Prestige series. Sure, these are going to be limited edition, hard to get hold of, and pretty darn expensive, but just look at how good they look! First up is the Z790 AORUS XTREME X ICE, by far one of the most incredible looking motherboards of 2024, with a blend of off-white and glitzy gold. Sure, it’s not to everyone’s taste, but I absolutely love this design, it really stands out from the crowd.
It’s not BTF, but does feature side-loaded connectors as seen on all the most premium AORUS boards.
It’s well equipped, as you might expect, with a plethora of high-speed LAN, WIFI, USB and Thunderbolt connectors.
As well as a thick and robust armour setup on the front and back, and as such, expect prices to be over a $1000 on this one, yikes.
This one needs little introduction, as it’s an RTX 4080 Super at its core, but with a matching premium cooler design and factory overclock, to match up with the design of the new motherboards.
Much like the motherboard, this one is limited edition, and we can see here this card is number 298.
I’m not sure how many of each there will be, but I’m sure it’ll be something like 500-1000 at the most.
There’s plenty of other great looking motherboards on display too, covering all the latest Intel and AMD sockets.
First up, with the Next-Gen Z AORUS TACHYON ICE, one of the new Z890 Intel motherboards which will feature just two DDR5 DIMM slots, and is focused on the extreme overclocking and enthusiast performance markets. There’s also a 90-degree rotated CPU socket, on-board power and BIOS control switches, voltage reading points and more, so definitely not your typical daily driver motherboard.
Another Z890 is the AERO G, which is much more on the consumer side of things, but still looks fantastic with its white and silver design.
And the ELITE X ICE, a little more premium with larger heat sinks and what looks to be more VRM cooling and connectivity overall. Unfortunately, no wording on price for these boards, but keep in mind it’s our first look at these boards, a preview and little else right now.
One of my favourites is the AORUS ELITE WIFI7, purely based on the fact that the ELITE line-up is usually what I spend my own money on, a nice sweet spot between the mid-range and more extreme boards, that make a good base for a powerful work and gaming PC.
Or if you’re feeling a little rich the MASTER series is getting a mini-ITX Z890 solution, with a massive heatsink on the M.2 slot, with a thick heat pipe running from the bottom to the top heatsink, ensuring the VRM and storage gets ample cooling even on this smaller board. There’s more M.2 on the back of the board, and PCIe Gen 5 too.
And finally, a board that’s coming very soon is the B650E AORUS PRO X with USB 4, bringing dual USB4 ports to AM5 platforms, allowing for ultra-fast data transfers, USB DisplayPort connectivity, and other next-gen peripheral support.
