In the office today we have the latest gaming peripheral from Gigabyte, the Force K7 stealth gaming keyboard. Gigabyte may be better known for their graphics cards and motherboards, but I’m sure many of you also know that they make some truly epic peripherals too and while not all of them are gaming focused they’ve still gone on to win plenty of awards for their keyboards and mice, not just from eTeknix either, but from many publications around the world, especially for their popular Aivia range.
The model we are looking at today may not be as prestigious as their Aivia range, but given that it is priced at a modest £40 I was hardly expecting royalty. That being said, £40 for a keyboard is still a firm investment and for that kind of money you still expect a good quality product in return for your investment. While obviously at this price range it doesn’t feature mechanical keys, it does offer an alternative to the often cheaper membrane switch by using scissor switch keys, which some may regard as a mixture of both membrane and mechanical, often typical of what you find on good quality notebooks.
The keyboard packs a nice feature set such as dedicated controls for back-lighting and volume, shortcut keys, a braided cable, scissor switch keys, anti-ghosting capability around the WASD cluster and it promises it all just £40, so let’s get straight to it and take a closer look at what the Force K7 has to offer.
First of all we see the K7 comes nicely packed in a black box with some really nice graphics on the front. There are three LED colour modes on this keyboard and we can see three small pictures on the box that demonstrate each of them, they are dark blue, green and light blue.
Around the back we have a more detailed breakdown of features such as the scissor switch keys, anti ghosting on the WASD cluster and surround area, Win-lock key, and the dual scroll wheel controllers for audio and lighting.
Aside from the keyboard the box also included an easy to use quick start guide, nothing fancy but it’s everything you need.
