GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1060 Mini ITX OC 6GB Review

Introduction

Making a high-performance graphics card is easy these days, just take a large PCB, stick a huge heat sink on it, and a bunch of fans, and overclock the heck out of it. There’s only one problem, that graphics card is going to be pretty big, and not much use to those eager to build a compact mini-ITX gaming system. With the introduction of the latest Pascal architecture, the latest Nvidia cards are not only faster but also more efficient than ever before. Lower power requirements mean less heat, which also means it’s easier to cool. This has allowed GIGABYTE to create a GTX 1060 in a tiny form factor with the GTX 1060 Mini ITX OC!

Features

  • Powered by GeForce® GTX 1060
  • Integrated with 6GB GDDR5 192bit memory
  • 90mm cooler with 3D active fan
  • One-click Super Overclocking
  • 17cm Compact Card Size

Core Clock

  • Boost: 1771MHz/ Base: 1556 MHz in OC Mode
  • Boost: 1746 MHz/ Base: 1531 MHz in Gaming Mode

While it may pack a power GTX 1060 GPU core, and some pretty decent clocks and 6GB of VRAM, the Mini-ITX OC is just 169mm long! Yet despite its compact size, it’s still equipped with a powerful 90mm fan and 2 pure copper heat-pipes that promise to deliver excellent cooling performance. If that wasn’t enough, it’s even run completely silent in low-load/low-temperature scenarios.

At around £230, this compact card sounds like a winner on paper, but let’s take a closer look at what it has to offer and see what it can do on our test bench!
