GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Gaming OC Variant Detailed

While we have seen the AORUS version of Gigabyte’s GTX 1080 Ti a few days ago, now the full details of their GTX 1080 Ti Gaming OC version has been announced officially. The Gigabyte GTX 1080 Ti Gaming OC is sporting a lighter colored shroud with Gigabyte orange accents and is also equipped with RGB LED features that are controllable and synchable with with Gigabyte’s RGB Fusion desktop app.

Compared to the AORUS version, the Gigabyte GTX 1080 Ti Gaming OC has a more modest cooling solution that uses two slots instead of three, and while it still uses three fans, they are smaller 80mm coolers rather than three larger overlapping units on the AORUS. These fans stop operating under low load operations to remain quiet and they are designed for lower-noise performance hence having a 3D stripe curve on their surface. Underneath these fans is a copper direct-contact 5-heatpipe arrangement that distributes heat to two sets of aluminum fins. On top of the RAM is a passive plat that is separate as well for cooling those components.

At the rear, there is only a little ventilation area since this is a downward blowing fan that exhaust on the sides of the video card. The Gigabyte GTX 1080 Ti Gaming OC however, adds a DVI-I port on the top slot beside the ventilation area, compared to the reference Founder’s Edition GTX 1080 Ti which only has the single HDMI and three DisplayPort connectors. The VRM has also been upgraded from the reference 7+2 to an 8+2 phase design and according to Gigabyte they are using a Tier-1 memory NAND IC instead of the regular Micron NAND that everyone has been using so it will probably be a Samsung or SK Hynix GDDR5.

The Gigabyte GTX 1080 Ti Gaming OC comes out of the box with a gaming mode base clock of 1518 MHz and a boost clock of 1632 MHz, while under OC mode, it has a base of 1544 MHz and a boost clock of : 1657 MHz.
