Final Thoughts
All-in-all the GIGABYTE GTX 550 Ti is a fantastic card. Performing significantly better than the stock GTX 550 Ti as well as being cooler and less loud than all of it’s rival cards. The GIGABYTE GTX 550 Ti leaves a few questions to be answered- the first of which is if it is worth spending the extra £10 over the standard GTX 550 Ti to get the GIGABYTE version, my answer to which would be a resounding yes! The GIGABYTE version is able to provide better performance, more advanced features and an amazing cooler that can provide ample cooling at a low volume. A good use of £10 if you ask me. However, the GIGABYTE GTX 550 Ti is dangerously close to the GTX 460 which was the king of performance in the various benchmarks we ran. This means for £10 over the GIGABYTE version of the 550Ti, you can get yourself a top notch card that will perform consistently no matter what you throw at it. This makes it difficult to recommend the GIGABYTE GTX 550 Ti considering the price of the GTX 460. However, if you really can’t afford that little extra then you won’t be disappointed with the GIGABYTE GTX 550 Ti- it will see you through most new games at a smooth FPS at respectable settings without the worry of heat, overclocking yourself or noise. A great choice for entry-level builders and gamers.
If you already own a high power GPU such as the GTX 580 and are looking for a performance boost, the GIGABYTE GTX 550 Ti would make an almost perfect choice of PhysX card- it has the right amount of performance to increase FPS in games but will not add to system noise or break the bank. In addition, the GIGABYTE GTX 550 Ti would make an excellent choice for a HTPC build as it is small, whisper quiet and provides just the right amount of performance for viewing media and playing most games.
