Gigabyte GeForce GTX Titan 6GB Graphics Card Review

Rounding off this review, I want to start by looking at the physical aspects of the card. Those that have seen the 690 may easily be fooled by this and granted they do look very similar, but either way, damn it looks good. Its very rare that I say this about a stock product but this time round I certainly am. NVIDIA have added a little bit of style to the cooler with the bolts, and clear plexi-glass that covers the cooler. The matt silver, black and shiny metal highlights give a rugged feel to the card and even holding onto it, it feels solid as well.

Performance though is where this card is diving a few groups and this is where the price will get dragged in to the argument. There is no question of a doubt that this is the worlds most powerful SINGLE GPU card ever released and we’ve seen virtually all of out benchmark top spots taken over by the Titan throughout this review. The certainly goes to show then that NVIDIA were not afraid of AMD’s claims that they had the worlds most powerful cards when questioned during their press conference last week. They made a point of letting the media decide and by far they were right. Clock for clock we do have a new leader, but when it comes to price for performance, this is where the Titan has a kick in the shins.

The new features that are one offer with the Titan such as GPU Boost 2.0 and display overclocking show that NVIDIA are consistently finding ways to push their cards to the limits to give the best and most immersive  gaming experience possible but what we have to consider is that NVIDIA’s own dual core 690 is cheaper than the Titan and in some areas is more powerful than. Whether or not to bear the brunt of the £900 price tag is down to whether or not you’re after bragging rights or you’re after the best-in class for performance.

Bottom line, NVIDIA are back on the top spot with the most POWERFUL single GPU card on the market and given that AMD are not releasing any more cards for the rest of this year to take it on, NVIDIA’s GTX Titan is one super graphics card for supercomputer gaming.
