Final Thoughts

How Much Does it Cost?

The new Nvidia RTX 2080 OC Gaming from Gigabyte is available now with prices around £799.99 for most retailers. However, we found one at sites like Overclockers for just £749.99. This makes it the most affordable 3rd party RTX card on the market right now. There are more competitive deals cropping up all the time, so keep an eye out. However, I suspect the Gigabyte cards will continue to be some of the most affordable RTX cards for quite some time.

Overview

The Gigabyte Gaming OC graphics cards are often some of the most competitively priced on the market. This was true with the 10-series and 9-series launch. They’re not the most over the top cards at all, and that is reflected in the price. However, they’re hardly a million miles behind the performance of more extreme models. You can spend another £100-150 for a higher clocked pre-binned card, with a bigger cooler. Will you see £150 worth more performance? That’s debatable. For those wanting to get into the ring without overspending, this is the card to get.

Build Quality

It’s nothing fancy, but it ticks all the right boxes. If anything, it’s very closely related to their 10-series cards with a very similar cooler design. Gigabyte played it safe with this card to keep costs down, and fair play to them. Consumers want a good deal and don’t always want to pay a premium for stuff they don’t need. The triple fan cooler is sufficient and well made, and the inclusion of the full-size backplate is always welcome.

Added Value

Like all other RTX cards, you’ll find three DisplayPort connections, an HDMI, and a Type-C display output. For hooking up multiple 4K display, HFR displays, HDR, and VR, you’ll not be left wanting for more here. Of course, it also supports NVLink for dual-GPU action, and there’s a bit of RGB thrown in on the side logo.

Should I Buy One?

For those who want to push the limits and play the latest games on ultra-wide displays, high-refresh-rate displays at 1440p, or game above 60 FPS on 4K displays, the RTX 2080 is the way to go. Sure, the RTX 2080 Ti is the 4K gaming champion, but for 2/3rd the price, the Gigabyte RTX 2080 OC Gaming is a great deal. Once we see more DLSS and RT features roll-out from developers, I think the value to customers on these cards is going to go through the roof!
