Gigabyte GTX 1660 Ti Gaming OC Graphics Card Review

How Much Does It Cost?

Amazingly, this fantastic graphics card costs just £284.99. That’s about the mid-price for a GTX 1660 Ti. Gigabyte themselves do one for just £259.98 which I suspect would perform on par with the Palit one we tested. Feelings a little wallet heavy? Another £20 will get you slightly higher clocks and a sexier looking cooler with the Gigabyte AORUS version for £304.99. In the US the card is priced at $299.99.

Overview

I can’t help but be impressed by these new cards from Nvidia. Before all you stark raving mad enthusiasts stay shouting “UH THIS SUCKS, MY SLI 1080 T I’s ARE FASTER WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP” I’ll tell ya all to shut it now. For pure power to performance ratios, these GTX 1660 Ti’s are monsters and some of the best entry level cards since we had the 660 Ti. For those building their first gaming PC, or upgrading from GTX 9xx or earlier, or even AMD RX4xx, or even an R9 series card. These will be a huge upgrade indeed. A fraction of the power usage, and much bigger performance.

Build Quality

If you’ve seen any Gigabyte card in the last few years, you’ve seen this one. It’s not the most exciting looking cooler ever, but it gets the job done very well. With three quality fans, a big hunk of metal for the heatsink, and a nice (albeit not required) backplate. It all adds up to a solid card that looks pretty decent. Me personally, I’d have the Aorus one for an extra £20, but for those who don’t care about aesthetics, keep you’re £20 and buy a crate of beer.

Performance

This card smashed through the 60 FPS barrier at both 1080p and 1440p in every game we threw at it. Well, except Metro, but that’s more to do with that game than this GPU. For playing the latest games with high graphics settings, even ultra will run for many of them, you really can’t go wrong.

At this price, this power consumption, running this cool and quiet, with great overclocking potential and a fairly wallet-friendly price. The Gigabyte GTX 1660 Ti Gaming OC is one of the best all-around GPU purchases you can make right now.
