The Windforce cooler has always been easily recognisable with its distinct black surround to three smoked fans that sit on top of a huge heat sink underneath. The oversized coolers have always increased the length of the card but only by a fraction.
Gigabyte have given their cooler a fundamental upgrade, removing the old plastic surround to the fans and fitting it with a new metal cover. The new design gives the cooler a whole new lease of life and brings it right up to date in terms of design.
Running along the leading edge of the card is a metal support bracket to help bear the weight of the cooler and to stop the card from bending once installed whilst adding a bit more style to the package.
Nestled in to the PCB’s corner are the 6 + 8 pin power connectors and as can be seen, no space has been wasted with the heat sink wrapping itself around to maximise the surface area available for cooling.
With a reference set of display outputs, the WindForce 770 features, SL and DL-DVI ports, HDMI and a full sized DisplayPort support up to four screen NVIDIA surround.
With each manufacturer allowed to deviate from the reference design, overclocked models are going to be popular, aiding in setting each card apart from the other. At stock the 770 comes with a core clock speed of 1046MHz, boosting to 1085MHz and a memory speed of 7Gbps. Gigabyte have given their boards a little boost, upping the core clock speed by nearly 100MHz to 1137MHz when gives a boost speed of 1189MHz whilst leaving the memory at the blazing speed of 7Gbps.
