Gigabyte’s latest graphics card takes a break from the norm of multiple large fans across the graphics cards and created something that is very similar to the default Nvidia and AMD lateral-blower coolers. The new Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 TT is very similar to those, but it does have some differences on the inside – and it looks pretty cool too, in my opinion.
Inside the card is a dense copper heat pipe-fed aluminium channel heatsink which is ventilated by the new WindForce Turbo Fan lateral-blower type cooler pushes hot air out of your case. It features three 6mm-thick copper heat pipes that make direct contact with the CPU die while an aluminium plate will draw heat away from the graphic memory and the VRM of the card.
Performance wise, we get a factory overclocked clock speed from the GPU of 1657 MHz core and 1797 MHz when boosted. That is the OC mode, it also features a normal mode with 1632 MHz base clock and a 1772 MHZ boost clock. The 8GB GDDR5X memory will run at the default 10,000 MHz.
The power is provided through a single 8-pin PCIe power connector which makes it easy to deploy cable and PSU wise. Plenty of performance, good looking cooler, and most likely a price that’s more wallet-friendly than some of the previous GTX 1080 cards. While Gigabyte didn’t reveal any pricing yet, it is expected to be one of the cheaper options next to the Founder’s Edition cards.
