Gigabyte K9 Optical Keyboard at CES 2018

Gigabyte K9 Optical

It seems optical switch keyboards just keep cropping up, and Gigabyte is the latest to have a crack at the idea. Their new K9 Optical gaming keyboard comes with mechanical switches. However, it uses an optical trigger that provides a response time that’s just a fraction of a second, 0.03ms to be exact, which could give you that ultimate edge in combat.

Equipped with Flaretech Switches, it still looks and feels like a high-end mechanical keyboard. However, it also comes with 9 alternative switches that you can swap in for any other switch on the keyboard, allowing you to give them a more clicky feel rather than linear. However, a clicky variant will similarly come with 9 linear switches.

Of course, it has all the usual bonus features, such as full RGB LED lighting effects. Of course, it also has full N-key rollover, a splash-proof design and more. We didn’t catch the price, but we would expect it to be pretty competitive. We’ll have more information very soon!
