Launching right after the reference models of the RX 470 came out from AMD, Gigabyte has revealed their first custom RX 470 graphics card. Dubbed the Gigabyte RX 470 G.1 Gaming, the custom card pairs up the cut-down Polaris 10 GPU with Gigabyte’s own custom PCB and cooling solution.
Starting off with the GPU itself, it features binned RX 470 chips at a relatively low factory overclock of just 1230MHz, barely more than the stock boost speed. I suspect we may see faster variants later on but the RX 480 priced just above doesn’t allow these cards much room. Power is provided by the custom 6+1 power phases and with an 8pin PCIe power connector which should leave decent room for overclocking.
Cooling wise, the card features a WINDFORCE 2X cooling solution with 2 90mm fans with 0dB mode, and 3 composite copper heatpipes, more than enough. We also have the standard RGB LED lighting which provides some extra customisation to users. There is also the new XTREME Engine utility which provides an extra OC mode to help provide even more performance for those that choose so. Lastly, on top of the reference display outputs, Gigabyte has added in a DVI-D connector as well, a still more than welcome addition.
