Good things come in small packages, as they say. In that regard, Gigabyte just announced the new X99M-Gaming 5 micro ATX motherboard to their already impressive Intel X99 lineup. With the support for the latest Intel Core i7 Extreme Edition Haswell-E processors and DDR4 memory, you will get a lot of power in a compact form factor.
Just cause you’re small, doesn’t mean you have to lack great features. The Gigabyte X99M-Gaming 5 motherboard comes packed with a lot of features including SATA-Express, M.2, KillerNIC Ethernet and AMP-UP audio technologies, just to name a few.
As mentioned above, the board packs a lot of features. So let’s just dive into them with two full PCI Express x16 Gen. 3 slots for dual graphics cards from either AMD or Nvidia, the USB ports are protected with clean and noise-free power delivery with the USB DAC-UP. It has ambient LED that can beat to your music, stay lit, pulse and of course be turned off. Dual BIOS and easy overclocking switches are also present.
Gamers also want a great sound and this new Gigabyte motherboard also packs a lot to satisfy here. The Gigabyte AMP-UP technology provides crisp and ultra-realistic sound effects while the Realtek ALC 1150 provides ten DAC channels for simultaneous 7.1 channel surround sound as well as having 2 independent stereo outputs to support multiple streamings. The OP-AMP is upgradeable/replaceable for those who wish something else, a nice touch.
There is plenty of connectivity including Atheros KillerNIC E2000 LAN controller, lot of USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports as well as legacy PS2 mouse and keyboard ports. The M.2 slot is dual design to allow for maximum compatibility and SATA Express is features too. The DIMM slots have 4 channel memory support and otherwise the X99M-Gaming 5 also has everything else you’d want from an X99 motherboard.
There was no word on pricing or availability yet, but shops have started to list the Gigabyte GA-X99M-Gaming 5 motherboard starting from €198.99. Time of arrival variates from shop to shop with some just saying over 7 days and other having a 5-10 days window displayed.
