GIGABYTE Offers Revised RTX 4090 Card With Relocated 16-Pin Connector

GIGABYTE has quietly revised its RTX 4090 Windforce card with a more compact design and a side-mounted 12VHPWR connector.
Revised GIGABYTE RTX 4090 WindForce V2
This revised Windforce V2 card from GIGABYTE was spotted by Vectral555 on Twitter (Via TomsHardware) and features a revamped compact design with a 14mm drop in width from 150mm to 136mm and the shroud itself has been altered with a less premium-looking design. Its smaller height however isn’t the important change, that is instead related to the position of the 12VHPWR connector and the inclusion of an anti-sag bracket. Like EVGA’s 3090 cards, GIGABYTE has decided to move the 12VHPWR connector to the side of the card and within an interesting cutout section of the heatsink. As an owner of an EVGA 3090 Ti this design choice is great as it really gives more room for the connector to stretch rather than being crammed against the side panel and even more so with the cutout section giving more room for the card in certain cases. Back to the Anti-Sag bracket I mentioned, which has been included in this revision to ensure that the card holds itself in place. This bracket screws into the motherboard mounting holes for extra support. Maybe GIGABYTE could’ve taken another page from EVGA’s book and created a card that doesn’t need this bracket. In terms of performance, this card remains the same as the Windforce V1 with the same 2520MHz clock speeds.
Where Can I Learn More?
Currently, there is no information surrounding the release date of this card or if the pricing will be different, the only thing we do know is that it has a product page which you can view here. Hopefully, more manufacturers adopt this side-mounted power design.
