Synthetic Benchmarks
PC Mark 8
Rather surprisingly, the system’s PC Mark 8 score fell behind the MSI GE62 6QD by a decent margin despite having the same processor and a better graphics chip. To clarify these results, I ran the benchmark another two times, and didn’t encounter any significant changes. Perhaps, a background process was intervening or the CPU’s frequency didn’t turbo to 3.5GHz throughout the test run. Whatever the case, this isn’t enough of a deficit to cause alarm and will still provide a superb experience when it comes to basic photo editing, web browsing and other rudimentary tasks.
3DMark
On a more positive note, the 3D performance was much better, and a large step up from the Gigabyte P34W v3 during 1440P testing. As you can see, this is the best set of scores we’ve seen from a gaming laptop, and it’s very impressive given the compact design.
Unigine Heaven
In a similar fashion, the laptop performed really well in Heaven 4.0 especially with the DirectX9 render. Even though it’s slightly behind the P34W v3’s Extreme score, the difference is within a margin of error and could easily be a contrasting running order via a second benchmark run.
