It’s very hard to show benchmarks for a motherboard as it relies heavily on the rest of the components. Due to this, it may not seem that the UD7 was fantastic in comparison but you have to weigh up the pros and cons of the features as well as performance to see if it’s the right board for you. The other boards we tested against didn’t include half of the extras that the UD7 incorporates as standard, including 3-way graphics card support, yet if that isn’t needed, there are always other boards in the P67-UD range to supply to your every need.

The BIOS is nothing out of the ordinary and has a simple layout that all Gigabyte users from other platforms will be familiar with, leaving this board as an easy upgrade path for socket 1156 and 1366 users. Even AMD users wanting to jump ship will find the BIOS a real treat to tinker with.

Overclocking is where this board really stood out giving a fantastic 5GHz overclock using the 2500k i5 processor and being stable at fairly low volts, especially when we saw that similar boards required a little bit more juice. The 24 phase power design is perfect in this situation and the board as a whole delivered nice clean power directly to the components that required it.

Price wise you will be looking at around £250 (at the time of review) which may sound like a lot, but when compared to other boards of a similar nature from the likes of Asus at an extra £30, it’s all taken into consideration.

Overall it’s a very solid board that includes all of the latest and greatest features at quite a fair price. If you’re wanting something that can keep a stable overclock and stand the test of time, the P67A-UD7 from Gigabyte is the board to get, but with Z68 on the horizon, will it hurt sales or will there still be a market for the P67 based boards?
