A Gigabyte has let slip that Nvidia will be launching its next-generation GeForce GTX 880 series of high-end graphics cards in September 2014. Now we all new the cards were coming, but a release date remains to be set in stone, albeit we know a new GPU launch isn’t far away given that 7xx has been on the market for a while now.
The executive also disclosed that the company (Gigabyte) is working on a custom-design card based around the new chip, called GTX 880 G1.Gamer which will feature a massive cooler that is capable of shifting 650w of heat for powerful overclocking, but can also be switched into passive mode for silent performance.
The new card will be based around the popular Maxwell architecture, expect more details to follow very soon as the release date is not far away.
