GIGABYTE Presents Its First Single 2011 Socket Board With Integrated 10 Gigabit Ethernet
GIGABYTE Technology, a leading creator of high performance server hardware, is proud to announce the GA-6PXSVT, its first single 2011 socket based workstation motherboard featuring an integrated 10 Gigabit Ethernet LAN controller.
Following the ever increasing need for bandwidth at every level, GIGABYTE offers with the GA-6PXSVT a strong solution for professional users. Regrouping on an ATX form factor ultra-fast networking, a large storage platform, the support of Intel® Xeon® E5-1600 V2 & E5-2600 V2 processors, and support for up to 256GB of ECC memory, all the features required for a rock-solid workstation or a high performance rack server are gathered.
10 Gigabit Onboard
Integrating a single SFP+ 10GbE port coupled with two additional GbE ports, the GA-6PXSVT is capable of delivering excellent network data transfer performance. Equipped with Intel®’s third generation 82599EN 10GbE controller and a low latency SFP+ interface, the user can benefit from an onboard package providing a better bandwidth, thermal, footprint, and cost performance compared to the traditional method of adding 10GbE capability via a PCI-Express expansion card.
Large Storage Platform
By combining the native SATA capabilities of the Intel® C602 chipset with an extra Marvell® 88SE9230 controller, the GA-6PXSVT boasts 10 SATA III 6Gb/s and 4 SATA II 3Gb/s ports. With the ability to connect up to 14 SSDs or HDDs, the storage configuration possibilities are substantial and can therefore match most of workstation, server and other storage professional usage models.
Single Orientation Placement
With the processor socket, the memory DIMMs and the PCI-Express slots being all oriented in the same direction, the GA-6PXSVT is designed to deliver optimal airflow performance for the best cooling of all the components. Therefore, it is suitable for both rack and tower integration depending on the application targeted by the user.
Intel® Xeon® Processor E5-1600 V2 & E5-2600 V2 Product Families
The support of Intel® Xeon® processors E5-1600 V2 & 2600 V2 product families delivers the benefits of the 22nm tri-gate process technology to the high end server industry. Those benefits include, among others, higher frequencies, higher core counts (up to 12 cores / 24 threads) and larger last-level caches, but also a much more varied mix of core/frequencies with notably the introduction of a new dual socket workstation segment. This new die shrink also allows for overall energy efficiency increase, with up to 30% average decrease in idle power consumption.
Finally, virtualization applications will benefit from increased performance thanks to the Advanced Programmable Interrupt Controller (APIC) technology, and more security features are included in the mix as well, such as the Intel® Platform Protection Technology with OS Guard, and Intel® Data Protection Technology with Secure Key.
