Even with Nvidia’s GTX 1080 Ti and AMD’s Vega GPUs fast approaching, the market isn’t going to stop because of them. As part of the continued expansion of their new AORUS lineup, Gigabyte has released a new GTX 1080, the AORUX GTX 1080 Xtreme Edition. This is the first AORUS branded graphics card out from Gigabyte ever but it certainly won’t be the last.
Compared to the regular GTX 1080 XTREME GAMING, the AORUS isn’t much different. In fact, the cooler and shroud design are pretty similar. The key differences are mostly cosmetic with color changes and AORUS LED logos. Of course, these LEDs are all customizable and controllable. Just like the Xtreme Gaming, there is the VR Link with 2 additional HDMI outputs on the inside.
For cooling the card feature 2 heatsinks with a copper base. This is cooled by 3 massive 100mm fans. There is also an advanced copper backplate as well behind the GPU. With no lack of cooling power, the card comes in two modes. OC mode hits 1936 MHz boost and 1784 MHz base while Gaming mode hits 1898 MHz boost and 1759 MHz base. There is no word yet on pricing or availability at this point.
