GIGABYTE Reveals 4000E Gen 4 SSD Targetted Towards The Entry Level Market

When it comes to new SSD releases we’re always seeing the latest of technology with high end speeds and high end price tags, which is all amazing and great for tech, but for most gamers and the average user, it’s all really more than they need. Well GIGABYTE has understood that with their new Gen 4 4000E SSD which targets the entry-level market.

GIGABYTE 4000E Gen 4 SSD

Via TPU, The GIGABYTE 4000E is a Gen 4 SSD which comes as a part of their new entry level M.2 SSD series. This drive will launch with capacities of 250GB, 500GB and 1TB, which does seem a bit odd because even at a budget 250GB is difficult to recommend. It’s likely these SSDs will make a good companion in some pre-built systems or motherboard bundles.

In terms of performance, the top end 1TB variant is capable of up to 4,000 MB/s read speeds, and 3,900 MB/s write speeds, The lower capacity models are a bit slower with the 500GB at 3,600 MB/s read, 3,000 MB/s write and the 250GB model at 3,500 MB/s read and 1,800 MB/s write. The SSD also makes use of a Host Memory Buffer feature which utilizes the Direct Memory Access of PCI Express to allow SSDs to use some of the DRAM rather than the SSD bringing its own DRAM. This of course translates to a DRAM-less design.

Where Can I Learn More?

All three of these SSDs are backed with a three year warranty though have varying TBW ratings,

  • 1TB: 320 TBW
  • 500GB: 300 TBW
  • 250GB: 150 TBW

As of writing no pricing has been confirmed, however you can find out more information on these SSDs is available at GIGABYTE.com
