Even though notebooks and netbooks still represent the best solutions as far as portable computers are concerned, there are a few alternatives on the market presently such as the BRIX mini-PC by GIGABYTE. This small PC measures in at 56.1 mm x 107.6 mm x 114.4 mm and includes only the most basic PC components, which means that the user needs to purchase and install his own storage and memory. Powered by an Intel Celeron N3000 Braswell SoC, the BRIX mini-PC includes a 14 nm chip with a dual-core CPU clocked at 1.04 GHz.
However, this frequency can go up to 2.08 GHz via Turbo Boost, and the CPU also boasts HyperThreading technology that allows it to make the most out of each core. Other noteworthy features include 1 MB of cache as well as an 8th generation Intel IGP with 12 execution units. The supported memory is dual-channel DDR3L-1600, which can be installed in a single SO-DIMM slot (8 GB max). When it comes to storage, BRIX offers a 9 mm 2.5-inch drive bay that supports SATA 6 Gb/s as well as an M.2 slot with PCIe 2.0 x2 and SATA 6 Gb/s. There’s also a micro-SD slot and integrated Gigabit Ethernet, while the display outputs are represented by D-Sub and HDMI ports.
