One of the latest products to bear the famed GIGABYTE G1 Gaming brand is the Z170N-Gaming 5 – a high-end SFF gaming PC motherboard that boasts support for Intel’s 6th generation Core processors. Featuring a mini-ITX form factor, the motherboard is compatible with LGA1151 processors and supports dual-channel DDR4 memory. Its storage-related features comprise a pair of SATA-Express 16 Gb/s ports, six SATA 6 Gb/s ports and an M.2 slot with a bandwidth of 32 Gb/s. As far as connectivity goes, the product comes with five USB 3.0 ports, four USB 2.0/1.1 ports and a pair of USB 3.1 ports, namely one type-A and one type-C.
Network connectivity is ensured by an 802.11 ac WLAN controller that supports speeds of up to 867 Mbps, a gigabit Ethernet Killer E2200 controller and Bluetooth 4.2 The onboard audio solution is represented by an 8-channel audio system that uses a blend of audio grade electrolytic capacitors, a 115 dBA SNR CODEC and a headphones amplifier. Last but not least, it’s worth mentioning that the GIGABYTE Z170N-Gaming 5 features Dual-UEFI BIOS, which is always a nice addition.
The board is powered by a mix of 8-pin EPS power connectors and 24-pin ATX connectors, and it delivers power to the CPU through a 5-phase VRM. The two full-size DDR4 DIMM slots can support up to 32GB of dual-channel memory while the board’s PCI-Express 3.0 X16 features a reinforcing brace.
