Despite the fact that there has been absolutely no formal confirmation, it has seemed more than certain since the release of the initial 20XX graphics cards that a 2060 would follow sooner or later. The sheer fact that the Nvidia 1060 has proven to be one of the most popular graphics card releases in recent years was certainly one factor. In addition though, despite the rather high specifications of their upper-end cards, Nvidia’s ‘entry-level’ models have always sold well. Again, it is hardly a surprise to see, for example, the 1050Ti as also one of the most common GPUs on the market.
In a report via Videocardz though, we do finally get to have a look at the Gigabyte RTX 2060. On the surface, this could again prove to be a huge winner.
In terms of outright performance, until we actually start seeing some (confirmed) benchmarks, we’ve got to use a little bit of speculation. It would be hoped by many that it would perform something around a Nvidia 1070. At least in terms of outright gaming performance. It will, however, also be a curious factor to see how the ray tracing technology is applied. Specifically in comparison to the higher-end 20XX cards.
The only factor that does seem a little disappointing is that Nvidia is sticking with 6GB of VRAM for this card. A little kick up to 8GB would be more in keeping with the time, but this is a factor that may pay off for consumers in the price.
As above, officially, the Nvidia 2060 still does not exist. Despite this, we fully expect a formal release of the cards within the next month or so. The Nvidia 2070, 2080 and Ti have all had a good ‘run’ at the audience. In truth, I think Nvidia has to sooner or later pump out a card that will sell in big numbers.
A sub-£300 price and Nvidia could be onto a winner here!
