Gigabyte RTX 4060 Gaming OC Graphics Card Review

How Much Does it Cost?

The Gigabyte RTX 4060 Gaming OC Graphics Card is available from today, and you can check for up-to-date stock and price on Amazon here. All the new Gigabyte RTX 4060 cards come with a 3-year warranty, with the exception of the more premium AORUS Elite, which has a four-year warranty. Obviously, the Windforce is going to have a price premium on it, but given that it has one of the largest coolers, and biggest backplates, and is also one of the few with dual BIOS, you are getting more for your money.

Overview

When we do these launches, it’s often pretty clear that there aren’t many major differences between the card’s performance. That’s certainly still true, but spending the extra money for an aftermarket card from brands like Gigabyte does have its advantages. You’re usually paying for a little more of everything, and really, it’s up to you and your wallet if that’s worthwhile.

Gigabyte has a solid reputation with its Windforce cooler design, and I’m happy to see that it still holds up great here. This isn’t a particularly power-hungry graphics card so it’s not one that runs overly hot, and that means the triple fan Windforce cool made light work of running cooler and quieter. It certainly ran quieter and cooler than the Inno3D card though.

I don’t think this card is really going to appeal to the enthusiast overclockers out there, but the dual BIOS certainly has its advantages for daily use too. You can set a gaming profile with higher fan curves and boost clocks for when you’re gaming with your mates with your headphones on. Then a lower power profile for those hot days when your PC may be sweating and you want to let it breathe, so to speak.

It’s also factory overclocked, and while that’s not going to give you a huge performance boost over the stock models, faster is faster and I don’t think anyone will complain about that. The bigger cooler makes it easy to squeeze a little more performance out of the chipset though.

Finally, the backplate design looks awesome, it’s one of the better of the bunch, with a thick metal design and a large cut-out that allows one of the fans to blow heat right through the card, further improving the overall cooling performance. Plus, I think it quite literally looks cool too, and given in most systems this is the part of the GPU you’ll see the most, the design really takes things to the next level.

Should I Buy One?

If you’re in the market for an RTX 4060, the Gigabyte Gaming OC series has long been one of the best value options on the market for many generations now, and that still holds true with the Gigabyte RTX 4060 Gaming OC. A great option for those looking to replace a graphics card from 5+ years ago such as the GTX 1060.
