After rolling out the GTX 1080 G1 Gaming last week, Gigabyte is back with their top tier offering. Part of the XTREME lineup, the GTX 1080 XTREME Gaming brings the best Gigabyte is able to offer.
First off, the card uses a WINDFORCE cooler with 3 fans. However, the new design features the WINDFORCE stack 3X which uses 3 100mm fans. These are larger than the usual 80-90mm fans found in most custom coolers. In order to fit all the fans in a tighter space, Gigabyte has stacked the 2 side fans on top of the middle fan, saving space. The middle fan also runs counter to the rest in order to optimize airflow.
With 3D-Active Fan, the cooler spins down when the card is idle or under light load. The cooler has 6 copper composite heatpipes as well which are reportedly 29% more efficient. Along with everyone else, Gigabyte has also added in controllable LEDs with 16.8 million colors.
Gigabyte has also bundled in Xtreme VR Link which provides a way to access the display ports needed for VR headsets. Finally, we have a XTREME SLI bridge which is also lighted. The card itself features “Titan-X” grade power delivery system whatever that means and 2 8pin PCIe power connectors. Overall, Gigabyte is providing a very nice package and I can’t wait to see how well the card overclocks.
