The trend with motherboards these days is the more CPU phases you have , the better, or at least “better” as reflected in a higher price. Gigabyte’s latest creation the Z77X-UP7 is the company’s first board to feature Ultra Durable 5 components, meaning the new 60 Amp chokes and International Rectifier PowIRStage IR3550 ICs. These allow for much more efficient power delivery and lower temperatures, in a demonstration VRM temperatures were nearly 35 degrees cooler than other VRM delivery methods on the UP7, sitting at around 60-65 degrees compared to 95-115 on most others. Two 8 Pin CPU power connectors are provided allowing for a potential maximum power delivery of 600W across the 32 CPU VRM phases. The board includes support for LucidLogix VirtuMVP, display outputs include DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort, and D-Sub.
Storage connectivity includes six SATA 6 Gb/s ports, four SATA 3 Gb/s ports, and one mSATA 6 Gb/s. Other connectivity includes dual gigabit Ethernet interface (one each of Intel and Qualcomm-Atheros PHYs), 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, 8+2 channel HD audio (Realtek ALC898, 110 dBA SNR), and 10 USB 3.0 ports (six on the rear panel, four via headers). GIGABYTE will launch the Z77A-UP7 a little later this year.
