Globalscale D2 Plug released

New from the longtime makers of plug based machines, the D2 plug drops on the scene. Globalscale outfitted this little guy with a 1GHz ARMv7 CPU, 1GB of DDR3, 8GB of NAND Flash, an SD card slot, eSATA port, HDMI, and numerous other connection options. The CPU supports full 1080p video playback and 3D graphics.

The entire system runs off of Lilliputian linux or an Android kit. I could easily see the Marvell PXA510 CPU based device being used as a Home Theater PC on the sly by hooking a decent external hard drive into one of it’s USB ports and filling it with your stored video files.

The Globalscale D2 Plug is out now, although there are a lot of other options when looking into small plug based systems for the price. I am looking forward to what Globalscale has for us in the future as well as all plug based mini-systems manufacturers making this adorable little micro-machines, the usability of such a tiny system combined with either a decent Linux distro or whatever flavor of Android you are keen on, is extremely high. Starting at $249.99 it’s still a little pricey for most that this little guy could be aimed at, but for early adopters looking for a discreet HTPC system with no-frills and a decent copy of Linux, this seems like the way to go.

Check out the manufacturers website; Globalscale for more info and shots of the D2!
