God of War PC Update 1.0.2 Notes Revealed

It’s been a great week to be a PC gamer, with one of Sony’s poster boys finally making it to the PC! God of War is a great game, albeit I still argue we deserved the original trilogy first. It’s a fantastic port too, and thus far, I can’t say I’ve run into so much as a dodgy-looking texture or light. The PC version is a proud moment in console-to-PC ports and it certainly ticks all the right boxes. Of course, like any game launch, there are some issues, but Santa Monica and Jetpack Interactive have swiftly released another patch.

This is already the second patch for the game, bringing God of War on the PC up to version 1.0.2. It’s a small patch, that fixes just two bugs, and it adds a couple of error messages. However, that’s a good indication of how few larger issues needed addressing at this time. Of course, I expect more updates in the coming weeks regardless.

An important one is a fix for Intel 12th gen CPU users. The game wouldn’t book for many unless they disable the iGPU. That was a real pain in the arse for those who couldn’t figure out the solution, so I’m glad to see it patched.

To get the update, simply let the game auto-update next time you load up Steam or whatever platform you are using.

God of War PC Patch 1.0.2 Release Notes

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where users with Intel 12th Gen CPUs could not boot the game without disabling their integrated graphics card
  • Fixed a UI issue that was causing a small memory leak

Other Changes

  • Added an error message for when saving the game fails due to a missing “Saved Games” folder or a related permissions issue
  • Added an error message for when a GPU stops responding. This error is often due to a driver issue or instability from overclocking
