God of War Collection Running at 60FPS in RPCS3 PlayStation 3 Emulator

God of War fans rejoice! PlayStation 3 emulator RPCS3 is now updated to run the entire God of War collection at 60FPS. The new update also fixes several graphical glitches, including broken shadows and broken depth rendering. This is a big improvement considering several months ago, the game only showed a black screen. The framerate is also a considerable improvement since it initially performed in the single digits.

Unfortunately, the game is still not yet 100% playable. There are actually two things that are holding it back currently. One is the lack of sound. Sound is an important element of any game’s immersivity so this is necessary. Just try watching your favorite action movie and see how realistic it feels without any sound. It is the same way with such an action-oriented game series like God of War. The second problem is that the game still randomly crashes on the RPCS3 emulator. Although rare, the event is unpredictable which really hampers the enjoyability of gameplay.

God of War Collection on RPCS3 Emulator

This demo video shows how well the God of War Collection runs on the RPCS3 emulator at the time of this article. It is running on a 4.9GHz i7-4790K system, although according to the author it could run on slower CPUs. The extra processing overhead was just for recording the video. Although there is no sound in-game, the author also added some background music to make the video more enjoyable.
