Today there is great news for fans of Godzilla and King Kong as Legendary and Warner Brothers Pictures announced a trio of new movies and dates for them. First out is Kong: Skull Island which will come out March 10, 2017. Production for the movie will begin on October 19th. Godzilla 2 follows by coming out in 2018, and Godzilla vs. Kong will be in theaters near you only 5 years away in 2020. With Legendary Pictures being attached to the project you can rest assured that they will be putting out some seriously well-done movies.
Kong: Skull Island will star Tom Hiddleston, Sam Jackson, Brie Larson, John Goodman, Tian Jing, Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell, John Ortiz, Shea Whigham, and Toby Kebbell. The movie will be directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts with writing by Max Borenstein, John Gatins, Derek Connolly, and Dan Gilroy. The movie will definitely have some star power other than the super star Kong.
Godzilla 2 will be directed by Gareth Edwards from a script written by Max Borenstein. The film will have Godzilla battling iconic giant monsters from the franchise but no information yet on who they might be. The Godzilla vs. Kong movie is pretty self-explanatory on the plot, they have a showdown.
“Audiences really responded to Godzilla,” stated Legendary CEO Thomas Tull. “Today, I’m excited to reveal that film was only the beginning of an epic new entertainment universe. As a lifelong fan of these characters, I’ve always wanted to see the ultimate showdown, and today we’re pleased to be announcing that and more.”
