GOG Galaxy No Longer in Beta After Major Update

GOG Galaxy may be one of the youngest gaming platforms for PC gaming, but it has been making great progress to being one of the best on the market. It’s been in beta for quite some time now, but a major update has just been released, bringing it up to version 1.2.

One of the biggest updates for GOG Galaxy Update 1.2 is the addition of Universal Cloud Saves, meaning you can take your gameplay to any system you like and pick up where you left off, something I’m sure Steam users are more than familiar with. However, this feature also works with games that don’t natively support cloud saving! You can also download your cloud saves at any time, and use them however you need to.

Piotr Karwowski, Managing Director at GOG.com, said “Losing your save files can be really frustrating. And a big part of gaming legacy, including many of the greatest games, was missing cloud saves – until now. Thanks to the Universal Cloud Saves feature of GOG Galaxy, not only new games, but also the all-time classics and titles which development has been finished years ago, will be upgraded with saves syncing and cloud backup.”

In the new version, you’ll also be able to customise the client, choosing which features you want to see and use, giving you a much more personalised experience. The new hibernate mode will reduce CPU usage from the client while gaming, offering you more performance and resources. You’ll be able to use bandwidth limiting and scheduling, and FPS counter, screenshot capturing, in-game overlays, a new chat system, and much more!

The update is already available to those who opted to test future updates, but the mass roll-out will begin next month.
