According to Google’s Larry Page there are now 135 million Android devices active with 550,000 more activated daily alongside 6 billion app downloads. Google is categorizing the Android as a high consumer success alongside Google Chrome and Youtube and Larry Page also noted that Google is investing heavily into Androids to ensure the long term success.
It is also worth noting that the numbers two months ago were just 100 million so around 35 million popped up in two months. There are also over 250,000 App downloads available for Android devices which probably explains the 6 billion app downloads currently counted.
Page commented to investors that Google was also building up its defenses against lawsuits by investing in a legal team to reinforce its patents: Google holds around 650 patents in total which is apparently what IBM generates every two months.
The Android now has 400 different devices, with 39 OEMs, through 231 carriers and in 123 countries.
