Got a naughty theme for your latest app on Chromecast, then we’re sorry to tell you that Google will be telling you to cover up, or get out as they rule that there will not be any porn based apps allowed on Chromecast. This rule extends to all adult based apps, so the planned Playboy TV app will no longer be heading to the service.
Google have released their Chromecast SDK for developers, but along side it comes their updated Terms of Service, which developers have to agree to before they can make their apps Chromecast compatible, and one of the most important rules in the ToS is that there can be no explicit content.
It’s kind of a pointless exercise in many ways though, why Google can’t just setup an age wall for part of the Chrome store is beyond me. Even though the Playboy app may not be coming to Chromecast for direct streaming, users can still open the Chrome browser and navigate to it.
