A Google employee is at the center of a controversy involving leaked Nintendo announcements. According to recent reports, this individual leaked information about several upcoming Nintendo projects before they were officially announced.
A Google employee reportedly accessed private videos on Nintendo’s YouTube account. These videos contained information about upcoming game releases and other key announcements. The leaks were discovered by 404 Media, which obtained an internal Google database tracking privacy and security issues reported by employees between 2013 and 2018.
Google stated that employees can flag potential product issues for review. These flags include a priority level suggested by the employee. The reports obtained by 404 Media are over six years old. According to Google, every flagged issue was reviewed and resolved at that time.
The leaked information included details about Nintendo’s future console plans. Recently, Nintendo confirmed it would announce its next console before April 2025, marking the successor to the Switch.
This incident highlights significant privacy and security challenges within major tech companies. While the leaks occurred years ago, they underscore the importance of stringent data protection measures to safeguard sensitive information.
