We haven’t seen many new stories for Google Glass recently, the tech is awesome in general but until Google bring it further into the public domain there is little else to explore about the device. However, one user has found a new way of using the technology and it not only serves to show a new use for Glass, but also many other wearable eye tech that seems to be cropping up on the market.
DiGiovanni has created an app that shows the in-game GPS for Grand Theft Auto 3 and while the game is quite old now it is more of a proof of concept than an essential app. It may seem pointless but it could mean that you are finally able to read the map while doing 120mph down a freeway in your favourite game, much in the same way drivers mount their real life satnav on their car windscreen for easy reading, giving you a much better heads up display.
It’s a great demonstration of things that can be done with the device and I hope other developers take on this idea, having your ammo count and way point marker in games like Battlefield 4 could be pretty awesome and help free up some vital on screen real estate.
