Google Home Launches in the UK in April

Google Home

About six months ago, Amazon launched its Echo device in the UK, and now, it looks like Google plans to do the same for its Google Home product. The device is scheduled to become available in the UK on April 6 via the Google Store or from stores such as Maplins, John Lewis, Argos, and Dixons. The price tag will be £129 for the base product, but Google is also offering customization options using colored bases, which will cost £18 if they’remade out of fabric or £36 if they’re metal. Google Home is perfectly capable of answering basic questions, or perform simple tasks, but what makes it truly special is that it can also handle contextual conversations, a feature that Echo does not support.

For example, the user can ask “who is the Prime Minister of England?”, and upon receiving an answer, he can follow up with a question such as “When did she assume office?” Moreover, it looks like Google has implemented a series of  “British treats” in this new version of the Google Home system, such as answering questions about certain hobbies or foods. Integration with smart home devices will also be supported, just like the US version, which will definitely be welcomed.
