Google Jamboard Receives North America Release

The much anticipated Google Jamboard has today been released in North America. The giant interactive whiteboard has been created to revolution boardroom meetings. The pie chart will never be the same again!

What is Google Jamboard?

The Google Jamboard is a 55 inch, fully interactive, 4k whiteboard. It has been designed to work as a hands on board with a pen to draw, as well as being compatible with your smartphone/device so that all people can interact with it. The main concept largely being for corporations who believe in ‘brainstorming’ sessions.

The Jamboard has today been released in North America with Canada and the UK set to receive it later in the year.

Who would be interested in such a product?

Companies who believe in a free flowing information ethic will be all over a product like this. Allowing multiple people in a room to interact with a single piece of ‘paper’ from their desk. The free-flowing exchange of information and ideas to reach a common consensus. So basically advertising companies… and that’s about the best I can think of.

Looking through all the razzmatazz of the actual concept, the product, in reality, is a 55″ 4k tablet which has ‘paint’ installed. Now such a statement is not likely to ever get me a job at Google, but in so far as I can see, that is it down to its bones.

How much does this cost?

For the 55″ computer (*cough* tablet *cough*), two styluses, one eraser, and a wall mount – £5000

Yes, a bit steep… in fact it’s practical vertical as far as I’m concerned. Playing devil’s advocate, the pricing is not high for the technology you are receiving. It is after all a 55″ computer. If you were an employer though, would you really want to spend $5000 on a glorified whiteboard in which your staff is more likely to doodle penises than actually do work on it?
