I don’t have too many fond memories of Levi as a company. This might have been something to do with the fact that as part of my media studies coursework I had to provide a full analysis of their adverts from the ’80s. It is, however, hard to overlook their popularity as a brand. It may, however, surprise you to hear that the iconic clothes company has branched into the world of smart technology.
In a report via The Verge, Google has partnered with Levi’s to create a ‘smart’ jacket. What does this do exactly though?
Well, the design is actually relatively impressive in terms of its practicality. The jacket is designed to partner with your smartphone and, in a nutshell, tell you if the phone is moving away from you. Now, this could have two clear applications. For example, if you accidentally left the phone at your table or alternatively if someone is making off with it!
The jacket comes with a built-in ‘find my phone feature’ By the press of a simple button (disguised as a part of the fashion design) it will cause your phone to start ringing at full volume. This isn’t, of course, the first time that a ‘smart jacket’ has been created, this updated feature, however, is certainly going to be a popular feature that might make many take that final leap into the world of smart clothing.
