Google PixelBuds Wireless Headset Can Translate in Real-Time

Now that Google has removed the 3.5mm jack from their Pixel phone, it only makes sent to make a wireless earphone for it. However, Google is not in the business of just copying Apple, who has their AirPods Bluetooth headset. So for their new PixelBuds (yes, its an awful name), they are adding a live translation feature. What is even more remarkable is that it can translate up to 40 languages instantly.

With a simple tap on the right side, users can play or pause the music. This touch-sensitive control area also lets users swipe forward or back for volume control. Hold it down, and you can get access to Google Assistant.

It also comes with a charging case that holds four charges, but the battery on the PixelBuds itself lasts for five. They appear to be available in matching color options with the newly announced Pixel phones as well.

What sets the PixelBuds apart from other in-ear wireless headsets is the use of the wire loop to secure behind the ear. Some do not have it, while some have an extra piece which attaches. According to product manager Adam Champy, they did not want to add more to the design. So using the cables made the most sense. Users can also have it dangle by the neck if not being used. This gives users a better option after taking it off while still wearing it without having to lug around the case while jogging for example.

Pricing and Availability

Unlike other products announced by Google at their Pixel 2 event, the Pixelbuds will not be available until November. They will have an MSRP of $159 USD, which is the same price as the Apple AirPods.
