Google quietly launch Latitude Leaderboards

Foursquare lovers will enjoy this news. Google have very quietly updated their Maps app, which includes some more functionality than it did previously: updates to Latitude.

Latitude Leaderboard is a place where you can check-in to various places, like Foursquare, and build up points which can be tallied to a global leaderboard. From here, you get bragging rights against friends. Right now, the Leaderboard is only showing to some people, and only shows itself once you’ve checked in and registered at a location.

So there’s no seeing before believing, you have to be lucky, and then check-in to even see it. I’m sure Google will fully announce it shortly, once it gets polished, or then again, maybe not.
