Already mentioned during the Mobile World Congress last month, Google’s Nexus tablet is now reported to be in production.
The new tablet will be powered by a Tegra 3 processor and will be made by Asus. According to sources who talked to Fudzilla, it’s highly probable that the tablet will be launched during Q2 2012 with May being the earliest date known. Otherwise, the latest we could see is a launch at Google I/O, set for late June.
Despite some rumours that hanged around, the table won’t drop price to $149 as there will be no dual-core version. The tablet will still be 7″ and won’t be cheaper than $199.
Apparently Google is primarily going for Amazon’s Kindle Fire, hoping to provide a better tablet and gain some of Amazon’s ground. The Google Nexus tablet should come with Android 4.0 and it will most probably be the amongst the first to get Android 5.0 Jelly Bean as soon as it’s out.
