Retailing for a little over £100 I don’t think it would be unkind to the GoXtreme Barracuda to suggest that it’s attempting to significantly undercut its main rival the GoPro. The real question is that for a camera that is roughly half the price, is it worth it? The short answer is yes. Obviously, to retail this for around £100, there are going to be some clear differences. Overall though, if you are looking for a quality action camera on a budget, the GoXtreme Barracuda is a definite option for you.
The GoXtreme Barracuda is available to buy from Amazon.
The package offers a wide variety of connections which would suit most people in any circumstances. In addition, the connection options actually make this a fantastic product for on the go. That doesn’t, however, mean to say that the Barracuda 4K camera is perfect. For example, the camera casing feels very delicate. I’m not certain if in the long term use I would ever truly feel confident that it wouldn’t eventually break. Also, although I did not perform a battery full-empty test, I would only suggest that a 2-3 hour operational time could be anticipated.
Additionally, and again, I note only a minor factor, the lack of inclusion of even a basic SD card in these products isn’t helpful. As I have said previously, however, that’s hardly uncommon or unexpected in such devices.
If you were looking to get a quality action camera on a reasonable budget, then yes. We would wholeheartedly recommend this product. It isn’t perfect, but then for a budget alternative, you wouldn’t expect it to be either. The GoXtreme Barracuda 4K camera offers a lot of functionality and performance. Particular when compared to a lot of the more expensive alternatives. It is, in addition, easy to use and significantly less expensive.
If you are in the market for an action cam but don’t want to spend a ridiculous amount of money, then this is definitely a product we would recommend to you.
