Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is a 2D side-scrolling platformer by SEGA. The game stars Sonic and his sidekick Tails. You can choose from either sonic or tails. However, tails may be able to fly for a short time, but they have the same abilities. When you play the game after a few levels, you will be faced with a boss fight to try and defeat Robotnik.
You can jump, run super fast and curl up into a ball and catapult yourself towards the enemy. It also gives a small speed boost. When passing through the levels, you can pick up rings. Rings act as a game shield. When you get hit, crushed or fall off the map, you will lose a life. However, reach 50 rings, and you have the chance to visit a special stage. In which you can then collect emeralds if you advance far enough into the stage.
Sonic The Hedgehog 2 was released back in the 90’s. November 1992 to be exact. Which is why it is now being added to the SEGA Forever catalogue in celebration of its 25th anniversary. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is the 2nd game to be released in its series and upon its release, it had sold over 400,000 copies in 7 days. Which has ever since been a popular hit with fans worldwide. It was developed initially to be released on the Sega Genesis console. Since then it has come a long way and has now been released on mobile and PC.
