Gran Turismo 7 is Officially Delayed Until 2022

The Gran Turismo series has, since the release of the original PlayStation, represented one of the console’s flagship gaming exclusives. As such, with the PS5 releasing late last year, it was originally intended that Gran Turismo 7 should come out at some point before the end of this year. Well, following a report via TechSpot, if you were looking forward to trying out their new upcoming racing title, then I’m afraid you’re going to have to wait a little longer.

Gran Turismo 7

Following an interview with Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan, he has confirmed that following the restrictions seen during the COVID-19 pandemic, it has unfortunately caused Gran Turismo 7 to be delayed. While they were still initially hoping that it might have been on track for a 2021 release, they have now confirmed that the game has officially been pushed back to an undisclosed date in 2022.

On the plus side, however, Sony has confirmed that more details surrounding the game will be confirmed within the next few months.

What Do We Think?

Although this news will clearly be disappointing to some, in the grand scheme of things, Sony has bigger problems at the moment than this one particular game getting delayed. Namely, actually getting more PS5’s onto retail shelves and, by proxy, into people’s homes. So, if you haven’t got your hands on one yet, you can at least take some comfort in knowing you’re not missing out on anything with this particular title! Well, presuming you can pick up your console before the end of this year at least!
