Trion Worlds’ groundbreaking sci-fi video game Defiance has been unveiled as the lead sponsor for this October’s MCM London Comic Con, Britain’s biggest festival of modern pop culture. Due to be released in April 2013, the highly anticipated Defiance is a true genre revolution – a multi platform online shooter that will interconnect with an upcoming Syfy Network television series set in the same universe.
MCM London Comic Con has seen a huge growth in numbers in recent years, and is expected to exceed 70,000 over the three day show at London’s ExCeL this October – making the event the perfect platform for product launches and promotions.
John Burns, SVP and GM Trion Europe, said: “Defiance is the first of its kind – a unique and never-before-attempted entertainment experience that seamlessly melds together a video game and TV series. We’re delighted to be involved with MCM London Comic Con and to begin building the excitement for Defiance among UK and European science-fiction fans.”
In Defiance, players are introduced to a future where humans and several alien species live together on an Earth ravaged by decades of war. Set in an alien terraformed San Francisco Bay Area, the game blends intense third-person shooter action with the persistence, scale, and customization of an MMO. An immersive story will evolve alongside the events of the TV series.
Created by Trion Worlds, the developers behind critically acclaimed fantasy MMO RIFT and eagerly awaited massively-multiplayer RTS End of Nations, Defiance is set to launch on the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 next April.
“We are delighted to have such a high profile game as Defiance as a brand partner,” commented show co-organiser Bryan Cooney. “Tens of thousands of gamers will be attending the MCM London Comic Con weekend, making it an ideal place to get the Defiance message out to UK gamers.”
