GTA 5 Enhanced Gives a Sneak Peek at GTA 6, Digital Foundry Reveals
The latest version of Grand Theft Auto V (GTA 5 Enhanced) has made a big impression with its visual improvements, and according to Digital Foundry, these updates may give us a hint of what to expect from the upcoming GTA 6.
The analysis notes that GTA 5 is now twelve years old, and its age shows in the game’s geometry and structure. While the addition of ray tracing improves the overall experience, it cannot completely change or overhaul the game.
Major Visual Improvements
In GTA 5 Enhanced, the global illumination with ray tracing replaces the old lighting system, resulting in an incredible improvement. It makes the interaction between light and shadows much more realistic, enhancing the overall visual quality of the game.
Also, ray tracing reflections are a big step forward, although they are only partially applied to certain surfaces and materials. Despite this, reflections on PC appear significantly better than on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
GTA 5 Enhanced, which has been available on PC for a few days, also improves the level of detail and overall optimization. This suggests that a lot of work has gone into making these improvements, hinting that the technologies used here could be a preview of what’s to come in GTA 6.
Performance is also impressive, as the new version of the game can maintain a stable 60 FPS at 1440p on mid-range to low-end graphics cards, though it still relies on DLSS, a feature that has become standard for recent games.
