GTA 6 Already Winning Awards Before Its Launch

GTA 6 doesn’t have an official release date yet, but it has already earned a major award. Rockstar Games was left speechless when the Golden Joystick Awards named it the “Most Wanted Game” of 2025. This recognition highlights the immense anticipation among fans, who are eagerly awaiting its release. When it finally launches, GTA 6 is expected to shatter multiple records.

A Popular Vote That Left No Doubt

The award was determined by popular vote, and who else but GTA 6 could have claimed it? The competition featured major titles with dedicated fanbases, including Monster Hunter Wilds, Indiana Jones and the Ancient Circle, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, Civilization VII, Hollow Knight Silksong, Fable, DOOM: The Dark Ages, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and Ghost of Yōtei. While these games have the potential to be massive hits, it’s safe to say that none are likely to match the sales or impact of GTA 6.

Rockstar’s Response

A Rockstar Games developer accepted the award with heartfelt gratitude, saying (thanks RockstarINTEL):

Thank you so much for this incredible award. Also a massive thank you to all the fans. Obviously without their support, they are the most important thing for us and they mean a lot to us at Rockstar. There’s an incredible amount of people doing amazing things on Grand Theft Auto 6. Absolutely mind-blowing things so it’s a real honour to be able to come up here and accept this award on everyone’s behalf. I wish more of us could be here. Thank you very much everybody and more to come. Thank you

It’s worth noting that in a few weeks, Rockstar Games could also win the same award at The Game Awards. It was announced this week that it’s in the running for “Most Anticipated Game” along with Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, Ghost of Yōtei, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, and Monster Hunter Wilds. The opposition is more or less the same, but we all know the chances of it losing are incredibly slim.
