GTA Publishers Take-Two Has Plans To Monetize GTA V FiveM and RDR 2 RedM Mods

A few months ago Rockstar Games acquired the popular modding team Cfx.re who are behind the FiveM and RedM multiplayer mods for GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2. This was quite shocking to those who know Rockstar and Take-Two’s history with modders often involving legal action and a lot of review bombing. Unfortunately, I ended my original article with “Rockstar will probably find a method of monetizing it.” which has come true.

Rockstar To Monetize FiveM and RedM

As shared by DSOgaming, Strauss Zelnick of Take-Two recently claimed during Take-Two’s earnings call about the plans to monetize FiveM and RedM. This information was relayed by Videotechuk on Twitter, big changes are also expected for the two platforms in the coming months.

Nobody can say they are surprised, this was always going to happen it just sucks that it has and it’s also hilarious that it has. In the past Rockstar has claimed that the mod was unauthorized, fair enough, but also banned the mod for violating its rules and players using the mod. It’s bizarre that around 8 years later the very team behind that mod is working for Rockstar.

For now, we have to wait to see how FiveM and RedM get monetized, I just hope it’s small things and not monetization that completely ruins the mod.
